I hate you. You're making me play MTGA. I really hate you.

MTGA is just watered down MTG. It's the second closest product to Hex (the first being MTGO). It'll have to do. VERY bummed they don't have friendlist and direct challenges upon open Beta though.

I am staying away from mtga because I fear it will go the way of duels. Artifact may actually compete with hearthstone if people can get over the initial learning curve.

It's like playing Hearthsone with a MTG theme. The economy model is awful. You can't even build a rock deck without paying or playing a lot of time with a crappy deck. (I know that it's advertised as F2P friendly, and if you play 8 hours per day, it might, but I don't have that luxury). The wildcard system is kind of interesting, but puts you in a difficult position: You have to be very careful about what card you choose, so in practice, you have less cards that you can have, because you won't use those wildcards.

And the gameplay is... kind of ok, but I don't really like it, but it could be worst. The totally async draft it's really cool, I'll give them that.

I hope that over time they improve some things, like ladder with bo3, tournaments and challenges, and some kind of market like FIFA has (with only free currency).

I'm just a guy who wants to play some games of a nice TCG per day. Hex used to fill that spot perfectly. But I'm not updating the client or logging in until I see that something is being done. And since I don't think that's going to happen... well, MTGA it is.
