That sounds like a strictly casual format if ever there was one.

the invitational was wacky top to bottom though
i'm going to go ahead and say that this format should be relegated to the dustbins of history -

Sealed limited play is one of the most fun formats for Magic. Unfortunately, the random factor of card distribution adds an element of luck that often overshadows the players' skills. Duplicate Limited solves this problem by giving all the players the exact same mix of cards.
Duplicate Limited is considered by some to be one of the most skill testing limited formats as it requires a great deal of thought. Since players have complete knowledge of the environment, they have to build their deck with the metagame in mind.

which at this time would not be a priority
For the record, I have sat through all the Day 1 CCSs I could manage and some times watched it from start to end. I have never ever watched Day 2. And by asking a few people, they haven't watched much or at all of Day 2 either. So my narrow empirical sample leads me to believe that there must be data saying that Constructed events attract more viewers.
And when the stakes are higher (top 8), viewers are more glued to their screens. So I understand why being more emotionally invested in the result of what you're watching would make coverage better.
I don't know how HXE could balance having both Limited and Constructed high level competitions and be fair about it, but I doubt we'll see any change soon or ever. I mean, they haven't done much simpler things, like having the official HEXTCG channel broadcast 24/7. I've seen the game have 0 channels live / 0 viewers on many occasions. The post was edited 1 time, last by Vroengard ().

Mach,
Yea, I fully understand the purpose. It just sounds awful for a low pop game. Like, truly awful. Learning who is best with a specific pool of cards is like, fun in abstract. In practice it would need to just be a small part of something much wider - like an invitational. So I stand by my original assessment of calling it casual. -

Also, EDH (is not my priority). -

There are advantages for coverage as well, as the casters (and the viewers) could discuss the pool while the players are building there decks and try to predict what pool the players would choose. Or, you could even hold a parallel duplicate sealed tournament with the same pool for those not in the top 8. -

duplicate limited is just constructed with fewer packs and more color-screw issues
mirror matches suck in luck-dependent games. it's a big reason why limited is almost always at least decent while constructed is quite often awful
