Quote from Artifaction: “They could invest a (relatively) small portion of time creating resources and a systematic way of implementing those resources in random and increasing difficulty to form new dungeons on the fly, with characters from the story hindering/helping you - give us even one choice between games and it branches out enormously. Basically the FRA but endless. But don't replace the FRA having more content is better. Upon defeat you could opt to post a bounty - siege like bet that s…

  • It's a big problem with the game that it has very long loadtimes and is very prone to just stopping. I hope that can get resolved at some point.

While I understand and appreciate that factions change, I do think the last sets have been going about it the wrong way. Blightbark castle was destroyed, the Merry Caravan mourns their lost companion, Locke completely lost himself, and the Luminaries were corrupted beyond recognition. With all the factions being put down, and with such a spiral of negative events lasting this long, it makes it hard to get attached to anything in the lore. Some things dying/changing, sure. ALL things dying/changi…

Quote from AceBladewing: “Big fat disagree on the roguelike ideas. While I love games like slay the spire, that is not what I want from a TCG or CCG. I want to have a collection I own and decks I build with my collection. I also don't want a deckbuilder game, those have no sense of collecting. ” I'm not talking about the deck acquisition system, I'm talking about the relic system.

I hope Cory gets to read this. In my opinion, if you want some truly renewable content in the style of HEX' PvE, you have to turn to roguelike gameplay mechanisms. The closest thing I can liken it to is Slay the Spire: If you bring your starting deck up against the final boss, you get utterly slaughtered with no hope of anything. That's why the journey to the final boss, with all of its randomised twists and turns, becomes such an important part. I think I outlined this gameplay idea before, but…

  • In my opinion, what HEX did well with the AZs and the like is give the player the tools to do wild and outlandish builds that would still function. Since HEX, the only vaguely similar card game I've played is Eternal, and while that has some of the things that HEX had, the sad reality is that it just doesn't live up to it. In HEX, I could make a deck revolving around weird or stupid combos and make it work. In Eternal, basically the only thing that works is cards with almost no interaction, beca…

Quote from Pandaemonium: “Agree, the mode was a joke and the fact that it was not completely free was ten times worse. ” I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, they should've adopted Gems of War's pseudo-PvP format. Favours the attacker, the actually playing side, doesn't cost a dime, and is actually a pretty good source of income. Had Siege been set up that way, it would've probably been a hit. There'd be plenty of stupid designs, but you'd have an effective way of letting the community g…

Quote from Adaline: “Adding new modes, with new options or even cards. Well that could take some tens of thousands. ” I think we all understand that. But it should not have been invested in Siege. Even on paper, that gamemode was an abject failure, and anyone could've told you so before hand. It was driven not by gameplay design, but by the goal of being an economic sink. In my opinion, that is the two ton straw that broke the camel's back.

Quote from [PSN]QBFinest718: “Tempo of this game is out of hand. Fact that you can have a untapped red and a tapped black resource and still play a black 1 drop is BS. ” If you're going to assign any colour to Blood instead of calling it Blood, it's purple, not black.

  • I just want a game with the equivalent of mercs.

  • Quote from Whiteyzz: “A lot of companies fail to see the fun of casual play. ” This. Had Siege been a casual pseudo-PvP, I think the game would've been alive right now.

  • I think HEX could easily have etched out its own niche in the market if they hadn't been so focused on the competitive aspect. What drew me to HEX was synergy decks and the space and support needed to play them. The campaign was fantastic for me and Siege -COULD- have been HEX' golden ticket, had it been set-up as a casual way for the playerbase to create endlessly refreshing content for players, for free. I think that's the biggest misstep. Trying to make Siege into a weak, pale imitation of st…

  • Now they're just getting spiteful...

  • I still maintain that if Siege had been done like Gems of War's PvP, it could've been the engine the game needed to attract a wide enough playerbase to support its F2P model.

Quote from schild: “Quote from Firellius: “I honestly believe this game can succeed if done right. ” Yes, but that would require a scorched Earth policy on all former management. People who have shown neither the pride nor courage to do the right thing. ” That is true. The death of HEX is on the hands of Cory. And he's perfectly fine with it.

Quote from Frederik: “They could atleast make all cards attainable in PvE, just have rare and legendary be extremely hard to get. ” I wish it'd been in hands of DE, they could've applied Warframe's relic system to it. Grab a relic, do a special dungeon with randomised conditions, clear it to crack open the relic and get something.

Quote from AnomalyCobra: “i dunno if 20 active forum users would warrant more than a survive agenda. ” But that's 20 active forum users who've stuck it out for, what, 7 months now? Loads of former HEX players still -want- this game to be good, and I bet we're all secretly hoping for some announcement that the IP and game were sold to a different company. I wouldn't even mind losing my entire account if that happened. I've spent over 500 euros on this and I wouldn't mind if my account was lost in…

Quote from Transience: “This game could have survived long term, I'm sure of it. ” Considering how long the forums are still active after it became clear the game would not receive any more content updates, I'd say it could've done a hell of a lot more than survive, in the right hands.

As much as I would love to see this game make a comeback, unless it's sold off to another dev team and relaunched completely, it is not going to survive. And it seems HXE would rather have the game die an undeserved death than admit fault and let go.
